The Power of Your Story We all have a story. And sometimes the way we learn how to hear the voice of God is through the breaking down and the building up of our character. So many of us want to experience all the blessings of a life filled with the presence of God, but we don’t want to go through the fire to become the people we need to become in order to really appreciate that presence. C.S. Lewis once wrote, “God whispers to us in our pleasures, speaks in our conscience, but shouts in our pains: it is his megaphone to rouse aRead More →
I can’t remember the first time I ever heard the phrase “God spoke to me” uttered by someone. I think I was a child when I heard it first.
Growing up in church and being around people of faith, that phrase never really surprised me much. Lots of people said it. I never really gave much thought to it, just assuming that was what God did. He spoke to people.
But what does that even mean?Read More →
“Men of Athens, I perceive that in every way you are very religious. For as I passed along and observed the objects of your worship, I found also an altar with this inscription: ‘To the unknown god.’ What therefore you worship as unknown, this I proclaim to you. The God who made the world and everything in it, being Lord of heaven and earth, does not live in temples made by man, nor is he served by human hands, as though he needed anything, since he himself gives to all mankind life and breath and everything. And he made from one man every nation ofRead More →
Normal is fading away. Governments and industries and schools like normal, because it’s easier, it scales and it’s profitable. But people don’t like it – we want to be who we are, not who some marketer tells us to be. – Seth Godin Bored out my mind. Nothing can give a parent more confusion and frustration than dealing with a child who is bored with their life. Particularly in the arenas of school and church (if you are a part of either), so many kids are enduring the normal everyday humdrum of life in our educational institutions. We work, striving hard everyday to provideRead More →
It’s time. Another headline. Another tragedy…this time bigger than the last. Massacre. Death. Insanity. The world gone crazy. The world gone mental. The world…gone. Here’s where the solutions we must create meet their destiny. But we can’t go about answering our questions with solutions we never get around to. Legislation isn’t the answer. Writing better songs won’t fix this. Thinking about change won’t ever change anything. The answer lies in old wisdom. Ancient truth for a new day. Past solutions for present problems. The deeper rooted issue lies in the refusal we have to own up to our own humanity and our own brokenness.Read More →
To question things is an honorable act… There are many things we don’t understand and questions help us to get there… But… to keep questioning things even after clear answers have been given is a foolish quest because the joy of finding the answers, the joy of discovery…is missed out on because the questioner has now become the cynic… To make every single conversation always about the question and never about moving forward into the answers of the future in order to create something with the knowledge you’ve been given… Is completely futile and unworthy of an honorable human being… I grow weary of vague,Read More →
The ultimate purpose of the “Church” is to go into all the world and make disciples of all nations. It’s not to sit in a Sunday pew consuming all kinds of good teaching. (though this is part of it) It’s not to simply feed hungry people or just put shelters over their heads. (Though this is part of it too) It’s not to always seek safety, security, comfort, or convenience. It is to bring the Kingdom of God to bear in every aspect of our lives. This involves taking risks, walking in uncertainty, and living life as an adventure so that those who areRead More →

What good can I do today? What injustice can I prevent now? What fire can I help put out today? Is it in my home? Is it in my neighborhood? Is it at my place work? Is it in my school? Is it in my community? In my city? Where is my sphere of influence? What good can I do today that doesn’t serve the gods of my own power, my own approval, or my personal comfort? We bring the Kingdom of God when we present and live the gospel.. The Good News of Gods Kingdom here and now in our world.. Through the wayRead More →
I looked at the birds of the air yesterday and you know what i noticed? They don’t worry about anything! They fly around…catch the wind..pick up sticks…find food pretty much effortlessly…birds have a lot of faith! Another thought crossed my mind about that too. God loves me more than the birds. In fact…He not only loves me more…He’s proved it. You see…the Bible doesn’t say…”God demonstrated His love to us, by sending His great heavenly Bird into the world to save sinners”. He didn’t send a bird, a rhino, a dog, a flea, or even a tiger to save sinners. HeRead More →
